the weekly survey of mundane-ness
In the spirit of commercialized holidays, I present you with the not-so weekly survey of mundaneness.

Setting: You are in a mall doing all of your Christmas shopping. Amidst the hustle and bustle of other shoppers fighting for the remaining best-selling gifts, the mall's audio system blares only one song. Take note, ONLY ONE.

Question: Which song will you more likely withstand?

Jingle Bells?
Dashing through the snow, on a one-horse open sleigh...
That Jose Mari Chan song?
Let's sing Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday...

With suicide not an option, I would go with Jingle Bells. It just sounds... ummm... more pleasant. I don't know. Maybe because it's been there for ages? Therefore easier to block off? I've never been a fan of those jumpy jingly Christmas songs anyway.

Thank God for Eliot.

First of all, Jose Mari Chan's song is SO DEPRESSING!!! It starts with a minor key, for crying out loud!!! Eh pag nakakarinig ako ng minor key, naiisip ko may mangyayaring di maganda, try watching horror films and listen sa musical score!!!

Jingle bells it is, coz I can always change the lyrics of the song, you know... "Jingle bells, Batman smells, Robin lays an egg..." or the ever popular tagalog translation... "Ihi, kalembang, ihi, kalembang, ihi, kalembang saan man..." and so on.

If you live outside Pinas, I'll get JO Mar's CD, it adds to the real spirit of Xmas.

But back in the province, I'll pick Jingle Bells cuz it's always FUN with everyone OUT for some kiddie carolings.

    Happy Weekend.

Because I kept singing and hearing 'Christmas in Our Hearts' for most of my grade school Christmas programs, I'm going for Jingle Bells!

    Jingle bells, Batman smells
    Robin laid an egg!

    Batmobile lost its wheel
and Commisioner broke a leg! Hey!

I always thought the last line was...
    "And Joker got away. HEY!!!"
