sa timog

sa timog

I pass by Timog every night. It's on my route going home. Past GMA7, the gay bars, the girly bars, all other sorts of bars. I honk at the stupid people crossing the street without looking. I cuss at the whacked taxi drivers driving in the middle of the road. I cut those slow-ass cars looking for their next stop. They also normally don't know how to park. And they take forever to turn the corner. They are usually a group of kids piled into their parent's car. Sometimes, they are a group of kids piled into a taxi, with slowness of decision-making carried over. Observation applicable also to a group of kikay yuppies. It may be the booze. It may be whatever else they've taken. But they look like they're having fun. Even if they're really badly dressed. I can't remember the last time I actually went on one of those bar-hopping nights. I used to, back in college (God that sounded so far away). Rest assured, we were better dressed. And we did not wear white chunky shoes. And we did not wear woven belts that did not match our shoes. Okay, not the point.

Point is, I don't do that anymore. Am I depriving myself of fun? I hate the loud music reverberating within the contained space. I hate putting so much effort screaming at the top of your lungs just for the person right next to you to understand what you're saying. I get sick everytime I get caged in a venue filled with cigarette smoke. God, I am getting old. Am I not enjoying my twenties? I don't know. I can't go back anymore. Nor can I change what I've become. Do I even want to? Ehhh. Maybe not.

So for now I will continue wreaking havoc and passing my temper onto those frivolously frolicking along Timog Avenue. I'd rather go home and fit myself into our couch with a good book. If you're giving me some alcohol, wait until I'm on a beach.

You're not old. You're just matoor. Hehe. When I was in Diliman, I used to read books on weekends. Would just pause for leaks and meals. Sometimes, we'd go to Krus Na Ligas for some beer. 'Twas fun!

    Smile Dez.

So Timog Ave is the new RED LIGHT district in Pinas? Like Amsterdam and HK, the place where I live along the road are surrounded with many girlie bars - too many 'pocas' around and it simply spoils the beauty of the city.

Anyways, at least tinanggal na yung Ermita diyan.

I just made a entry about this on my latest post.

    Again, smile, Dez.

PS. Forgive me Dez, I have to pass you a 'virus'. I don't know if you've done this before but I've tagged you anyways.

You're checking out the wrong scene. Just this year, Paul Van Dyk and DJ Tiesto have made their mark in Manila. Tiesto, arguably, is the greatest club event since Chicane.

jk: haha true! pero natalo na ata sila ng Gigolo.

qroon: nakakainit talaga! lalo na kung pagoda na sa trabaho :)

abaniko: ahhh books on weekends, fresh air, and a good cup of coffee. sarap!

K: i think that strip near Makati Ave is still the district (among others)... kaloka ang sights.

infracted: ick. another exhibition of sweat, germs, loud music and smoke cramped in a contained space. as the point above was, i'd rather sit with a good book. those were never my "scenes".

at syempre, fly to the moon nanaman lola mo! eh kasi naman eh, given na yun noh... i mean, you wouldn't be with someone you don't even remotely think you'll spend the rest of your life with diba? (sayang oras!) So it doesn't seem out of the ordinary na every year we go to each others' country!

oh... sabi nga ni gretchen (i managed to squeeze some time to watch tv, eh nanay ko hooked sa pinoy channels!).. anyway, sabi nga ni ms barretto, kasi walang kasal sila ni tony, they have more of a 'marriage' than many couples. which i believe.

sooooooo..... ano, patagalan tayo ha? ;) impossible mauna ako... walang pera! ahahha
